“Mews” is an older name for Gulls (Larus spp), often known as Seagulls. They are known to be intelligent, adaptable and beautiful creatures. Some gulls have exhibited tool use behaviour using pieces of bread as bait with which to catch goldfish. They are also clever at dropping heavy shells of clams and mussels onto hard surfaces to obtain the prey. Gulls normally inhabit coast lines of oceans, bays and major lakes, as they typically prefer to stay within sight of land.
